Apparel Merchandising
The Apparel Merchandising
student studies the production, distribution, promotion,
and visualization
of apparel products. The program emphasizes buying,
visual communication, market trends, and product
development in both domestic and global markets. Students are prepared for a variety of exciting and
challenging entry level positions including retail
management, buying, visual promotion, sales, public
relations, quality control, and market
research.
A number of opportunities are available to the Apparel
Merchandising student to supplement and
enhance their curriculum. The faculty regularly
offer a summer study tour to New York City. A required internship provides valuable
on-site work experience. Students may choose to do part
of their program elsewhere. Through a cooperative
effort, students are able to substitute selected courses
at New York City's Fashion Institute of Technology, the
American College in London, and the Paris Fashion
Institute for HEV courses. Students are highly
encouraged to consider these options as part of their
educational experience.
A common core of courses shared with Apparel Design
allows students to concentrate in both areas and increases
their opportunities for future employment. |
