Adding an Additional Major and/or Minor (endorsement)

To add an endorsement to an existing certificate you the following steps must be followed:

  • Contact EHS Center for Student Services and ask that a transcript evaluation be processed, transcripts will be needed to do this evaluation; if you attended CMU, EHS Center for Student Services can obtain the necessary transcripts.
  • The student will be responsible for supplying EHS Center for Student Services with transcripts from any other institution(s) attended, including undergraduate course work.
  • A letter and the student transcripts will be sent by EHS Center for Student Services to the major and/or minor department
  • The student's transcripts will be evaluated by the major and/or minor department.
  • A copy of the program will be sent to the student; the program the student receives is considered a signed major or minor and coursework must be completed from that program.
  • To take coursework at CMU, register at Graduate Studies, 989-774-4723, Foust 100 as a non-degree student.
  • When coursework is completed and the subject area test is completed and passed, contact EHS Center for Student Services for an application to add an endorsement to an existing teaching certificate.
