CMU Midtier Program

Host Teacher Tuition Reimbursement

As of January, 2006 all midtier host teachers and principals are eligible for tuition reimbursement at Central Michigan University.  Below is an explanation of how a midtier host teacher and principal can accrue tuition reimbursement.

A Central Michigan University midtier student spends a minimum of 30 hours in a host teacher’s classroom.  Our Central Michigan University student teachers spend approximately 500 hours in the host classroom.  Coinciding with the established student teaching reimbursement, a midtier host teacher will receive 1 graduate credit hour for every 6 midtier students received in the classroom.  As previously established by the student teaching formula, a host teacher can receive up to 6 graduate credit hours within a 3 year period.

Principals receiving midtier students in his/her building will also receive 1 graduate credit hour for every 6 midtier students in a specific school.  A principal can also receive a maximum of 6 graduate credit hours within a 3 year period.

Student Teachers and Principals:

  • Number of Student Teachers - 1
  • Credit Reimbursement - 3
  • Not to Exeed - 6 credit hours within a three-year period

Midtier Host Teachers and Principals:

  • Number of Midtier Student - 6
  • Credit Reimbursement - 1

Thank you Midtier Host teachers and principals.  We will keep track of your midtier numbers and contact you when you have reached any level of tuition reimbursement.  We appreciate your partnership with Central Michigan University’s Midtier Program.
