Dr. Kirby has extensive experience in public school administration, having held positions as an elementary and high school principal. She has chaired North Central Accreditation, Building Emergency Response, and School Improvement Teams. Her research interests include the challenges of the principalship and issues related to teen victimization, principal preparation programs, and the role of the principal.
Her teaching responsibilities include:

- EDL 672: Administration of Secondary Schools
