Dr. Brad van Eeden-Moorefield, Graduate Coordinator for the Master of Science Degree in Human Development and Family Studies

 

The Master of Science Degree in Human Development and Family is in the Department of Human Environmental Studies, uses a culturally sensitive approach to the study of human development and family studies.

The primary objectives of this program is to expand students' knowledge of individual and family development, thereby preparing them for careers that focus on the enhancement of the quality of life for children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. Basic to the philosophy of this program is the assumption that individual development is best understood within the context of the family and its surrounding environments.

Graduates of this program will have an educational background to work in human service areas that provide support and intervention for persons of all ages and their families. This coursework also provides students for further graduate study at the Ph.D. level.

Students completing the MS in HDFS program receive very individualized attention in obtaining their educational goals. The 9-15 hours of electives included as part of this program enables students to take coursework in their specific areas of interest in with the field.
