Arrival

The main entrance to the Human Growth and Development Lab will be unlocked at the beginning of each classroom session (8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.). Upon arrival at school, families are encouraged to check the white dry erase boards that will explain the activities scheduled for the day.  For safety reasons, the parent or adult authorized to transport the child must remain with the child until the child has been welcomed by the teacher or person designated by the teacher to welcome the child to the classroom.

Departure

Please pick up your child promptly at closing time.  After the children depart, staff continues to work with college students and have a very short time to accomplish a large amount of work.  At the end of each day, parents are encouraged to arrive early and take a moment to chat with the teaching staff regarding your child's day.  We welcome your questions and feedback.  If you find that the necessary brevity of the end-of-the-day exchange leaves you with unanswered questions and/or un-addressed concerns, a conference may be scheduled.

Family Parking

Families receive an arrival/departure parking permit that must be displayed on the dashboard of the car. These parking permits are good for the parking lot directly outside the Human Growth and Development Lab's Main Entrance and Annex Entrance. The HGDL has worked with the campus Department of Public Safety to create a "free" parking permit for the parents of preschool children. We ask that you complete the parking permit form and we will issue you a parking permit that is good only for our parking lot located outside of the HGDL. Your parking permit can be picked up 48 hours after the form is submitted at Wightman Hall 163. Once you receive your permit, it must be in the window of the vehicle it was issued to whenever you are in our parking lot. Please ensure that your parking permit is in your window when you are parked at the HGDL. The HGDL is not responsible for any tickets you receive.

Release of Children

Children will be released only to persons authorized by the parent on the Child Information Card.  There must be at least one person other than the parents listed on the white card in the event that you are unable to pick up your child.  If you intend for one of these back-up persons to drive your child to and from school, it is the parent's responsibility to notify the child's teacher, in writing, of your change in plans.  Children will not be released to anyone under the age of 16.
